Letter From Magadan

Final Camp at Okhotsk Sea May, 2003

This report is released from Magadan city when I completed my long journey on May 2003.

The Journey of 250 days with 14927 km!

Japanese cyclist Hiro Andow finally arrived at Okhotsk Sea of Pacific Ocean!
I arrived at Magadan on 6 th May at night. Okhotsk Sea was still frozen at shore line. I stand up on the ice of Sea at Beceraya Bay near Magadan city. I could see Ocean first time in this 230 days after I left Sankt-Peterburg on last September. My Trans-Siberia bicycle touring was completed and it was 8 months and 14927 km long travel from Murmansk! I did not relay on any motorized vehicle even 1 millimeter on the way.
I carried the sea water from Sankt Peterburg on Finland Bay which connected to Atlantic Ocean. I returned this water to the sea at Okhotsk Sea of Pacific Ocean. I could complete my Trans-Siberia touring from Atlantic Ocean to Pacific Ocean!
I stayed and slept at that night on the frozen sea ice in the tent, final camping night of my long journey. I thought about my long journey in the tent. It was my holly night.

I met many people on the way. Peoples in Siberia were so friendly and attractive. Also I could see many beautiful scenery, frozen Baikal lake, Lena river, Taiga forest, Ice Mountains. Frozen Siberia had also very severe climate condition, lower than minus 40 degree, many snow, clack on the ice. But everything are good memory for me now. It is difficult to explain all the fact at this mail. I will report more in detail with my many picture at my web-sight homepage after I back to Japan.

News about my completed bike touring was broadcasted on TV at Magadan city and also introduced at Japanese news papers. I know I could not complete my travel without your kind cooperation.

From here Magadan, I wanted to visit Kamchatka. But there are no direct flight so I will fly to Khabarovsk at early next week. Then fly to Kamchatka or run by bike to Vladivostok. I think I will back to Japan on June.

Anyway thank you very much for your help on the way. I hope I can see you again in the future!
